Comments: Original print from "British Fresh Water Fishes" by Rev. William Houghton, after drawings by A.F. Lydon. Remarkable printing process, in which separate wood-engraved blocks were produced for each color to be printed. The technique was called chromoxylography and only used in England in the Victorian era. Very subtle and rich detail, impossible to reproduce with modern printing methods.
