Title: The Graphic Arts

Date: 1882

Author: Philip Gilbert Hamerton

Publisher: MacMillan, New York

Size: 11"x15"

Comments: Huge folio treatise on all forms of graphic art by noted author and etcher Hamerton. He played a tremendous role in promoting the artist print in the later 19th century, and this is one of his great works. Lavish printing on high quality rag paper, illustrated with 54 plates, copying noted graphics works through history. Prints from this volume often end up being framed or sold as originals, they have such a great look and photogravure printing. Bound in original vellum, some spine flaws but otherwise excellent for such a large book of the era. This book must have cost a small fortune when issued!

Price: $450

Condition: Very good overall, bound in white vellum with gold printing, some minor damage to spine as shown in photo, contents fine, some minor weakness in internal binding, but still very intact. Text and plates very fresh paper quality.
