Title: The American Centenary: A History of the Progess of the Republic of the United States

Date: 1876

Author: Benson J. Lossing

Publisher: Porter and Coates, Philadelphia PA

Size: 8"x10.5"

Comments: Extremely scarce Centennial era volume devoted to the history of business and manufacturing in the United States. Features 630 pages of text, and 60 magnificently detailed steel engravings, almost all of them devoted to views of American factories and industries including railroads and shipping. I have searched for this book in shows and on the internet for over a dozen years, this is only the second specimen I have found. I have never seen these particular factory views illustrated in any other work. Really an important work for the history of American industry, or someone who enjoys such industrial views.

Price: $995

Condition: Very good, original cloth binding is tight, shows some wear at spine edges and corners, text is clean and bright, plates are fresh and very clean, every one.
